Hello everyone
I'm an experienced musician that is looking to get into country bass. I'm guitar player with touring experience. These bands have primarily all been rock bands. Though I have a love for country music, I don't feel that I am a proficient enough guitar player at this point to play lead in a country band nor do I have a frontman's singing voice. So who would want a rhythm guitar player that doesn't front the band? Not many people.
So essentially I'm trying to reinvent myself as a bass player.
I understand band etiquette and have gear. My influences are primarily the older (good) stuff. Waylon, All the Hank's (HankIII) Johnny Paycheck, DAC, Buck Owens, Haggard, Jones, Wayne Hancock, Ed Bruce, Charlie Daniels Etc.
But I also get down with some of the newer cats as well: Colter Wall, Dwight Yoakam, Cody Jinks, Steeldrivers, Steel woods, Whiskey Myers, Cadillac 3, Blackberry Smoke, Ryan Bingham.
I'm not necessarily looking to hit the road right this second, mainly just play some cool gigs around town or in Texas and get back out there. I work full time but would like to have something that is like a weekly or bi weekly practice or something. Just something low key, easy going, and low stress. It's been a year since I've jammed or played any kind of gig and it' weird how I feel like I've almost lost my identity not being in a band if that makes sense.
Would love to hear from anyone that would be down to get a conversation going.
I appreciate it.
