JOLIET, IL — Joliet police are looking for a man in his early 20s after police say he pointed his gun at another motorist on Sunday evening and vowed to kill her near North Raynor Avenue and Black Road. The gun suspect fled Joliet police at high rates of speed and abandoned his car on the city's far west side in the Kearney Glen subdivision along County Line Road.
The incident began around 6:20 p.m. Joliet police say that the victim was in her car at the busy Six Corners intersection when a person in another car pointed his car at her. The woman was not able to provide Joliet police with a detailed description of the suspect, other than he looked to be around 20 years old.
A short time later, Joliet police saw the suspect's car traveling west on Black Road near Addleman Street.
"Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued," police said.
Patrol officers ended the chase for safety reasons, authorities. Later in the night, Joliet police located the suspect's abandoned car in the 500 block of Hudson Lane, which is right inside the main entrance for the Kearney Glen subdivision along County Line Road.
Joliet officers brought out their police dogs in hopes of finding the suspect, but he was not located. Joliet police called a towing service to remove the car from the far west side subdivision.
This incident remains under investigation, police said.
