For immediate consideration, please follow our online application instructions, listed here below this job description: JOB TITLE: Chief Maintenance Engineer SUMMARY: Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of the apartments in repair. Duties may involve insulating; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs. Managing scheduling for maintenance department and ordering maintenance supplies. Weekend avaliability required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintain and repair carpet, wall covering, furniture, painted surfaces; change burned out light bulbs and other cosmetic repairs in guest rooms, convention area, and/or public areas. Maintain and repair equipment in laundry, guest rooms, convention areas and public areas. Repair irrigation and sprinkler systems. Maintain pool and pool area. Keep adequate parts, material and supplies on supply cart. Inform supervisory personnel on job status and project status. Communicate parts and material needs to appropriate supervisory personnel in a timely manner. Attend all mandatory meetings. Report all unsafe working conditions. Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor to include cross training. Supervisory of the maintenance department is an essential function of this position including training and scheduling. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Constantly standing/walking on stairs, tile, and rubber mats covering tiles, linoleum, concrete, padded carpet, marble, gravel, etc. Constant repetitive motions of stooping (bending at the waist), twisting (knees, waist and neck), crouching (bending at the knees), and reaching (overhead/extension). Frequent climbing of ladders, steps, stools, etc. Frequently lifting/carrying equipment and supplies weighing average of 5 – 50 lbs. Occasionally lifting/carrying equipment and supplies weighing up to 100 lbs. Frequently pushing/pulling of equipment carts, equipment, and supplies weighing average of 5 – 100 lbs. Occasionally pushing/pulling equipment carts, equipment, or supplies up to 150 lbs. WORKING CONDITIONS: Working with and exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, dust, liquid chlorine, refrigeration gases, chillers, pump, etc. Constant operation of power tools, electric motors. Compressors, generators, power sweepers, company vehicle. Must adhere to the company’s safety standards and procedures. Safety guards, short sleeve shirts, steel toed boots/footwear, safety goggles, ear plugs, gloves, inhalation devise, aprons, using proper lifting techniques. Maintain security of work area and equipment while maintaining the level of safety required and exhibited by the hotel and OSHA requirements. QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. Experience of 2 -5 years preferred in commercial or institutional environment. Read, write, and understand English. Light carpentry and knowledge of paint and wallpaper. HVAC or plumbing or electrical skills. Certification in pool operation preferred. Meet minimum age requirement of jurisdiction. Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other team members. May need valid driver license with acceptable driving record. Must pass criminal background check.
