PHOENIX, AZ — History will be made on the gridiron of Florida's Keiser University on Saturday.
That's when Arizona Christian University's football team will make its first-ever appearance in the 16-team National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics football playoffs, facing off against the fourth-seeded Keiser University Seahawks in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The Firestorm made the playoffs after putting up a 9-1 record this spring.
It did so after the NAIA postponed its normal fall football season to the spring. The team finished its regular season with a 42-7 win over Wayland Baptist University on April 10.
The Firestorm's playoff debut will kick off at 9:30 a.m. Arizona time. The NAIA national championship takes place May 10 in Grambling, Louisiana.
Arizona Christian is one of two first-time playoff participants; the other is 13th-seeded Dordt University of Iowa.
Keiser went 7-0 this spring and is making the program's second-ever appearance in the NAIA's football postseason.
