BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Birmingham area made national news this week when workers at the Bessemer Amazon warehouse voted against joining the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union. The vote was finalized Friday, and took many experts nationally by surprise. Also in the news this week, the Birmingham City Council voted to extend the city's mask order, despite Gov. Kay Ivey allowing the statewide mask order to expire.
