POSITION SUMMARY Under the general direction of The Arc of Hilo’s Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer, this position ensures that the physical facilities and vehicles operated by The Arc of Hilo are maintained, repaired or arranged for repair, and kept in appropriate condition for operations and safety. Essential Functions: • Perform and/or supervise the performance of general maintenance and repairs on the agency’s physical facilities which may include but is not limited to: • Routine cleaning of agency facilities to include all floors, windows, bathroom facilities, and offices • Routine maintenance of agency grounds such as rubbish removal, landscaping, mowing, weeding, poisoning, trimming, etc • Minor plumbing repairs and maintenance • Painting interior and exterior surfaces • Replacing lights and light fixtures • Replacing doors and windows • Replacing gutters and downspouts • Installing and replacing floor tiles • Installing and replacing ceiling tiles • Installing and replacing roofing materials • Installing and replacing siding materials • Constructing shelves and cabinets • Develop and maintain key control inventory and issuing processes for facility and vehicle keys • Perform general maintenance and repair of all agency vehicles per established protocols • Develop and maintain agency vehicle maintenance schedule and arrange for repairs and services • Maintain inventory of supplies, tools and equipment in assigned work area • Supervise, direct and work alongside assigned staff who may have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities • Provide protective supervision appropriate to assigned staff’s level, while maintaining consideration of the employee’s human rights • Ensure the overall safety, hygiene, health and well-being of assigned staff, including but not limited to safety procedures, good housekeeping habits, and proper use of tools and equipment • Attend required meetings and training sessions • Maintain compliance with The Arc of Hilo’s Employee Handbook and Safety Handbook • Perform other job related duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Offer or other designated person Skills and Abilities: Education: High School Diploma or any combination equivalent to experience and education that would provide required knowledge and abilities to carry out the duties of the position Experience: One (1) year of verifiable experience in working with persons with developmental disabilities performing verifiable, relevant work experience; Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to deal effectively with a variety of people in the workplace and community; Effective clerical skills to accomplish duties Computer Skills: Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of office machines and personal computer experience in Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook Special Requirements: Knowledge of and ability to operate and maintain tools and equipment related to position and work area; must be able to lift 50 pounds Other Requirements: Must be able to maintain an acceptable criminal abstract from the State of Hawaii, as determined by the agency; Must be able to maintain Protective Services Central Registry clearances from Adult Protective Services (APS) Central Registry and Child Welfare Services (CWS) Central Registry; Must maintain CPR and First Aid Certificates; Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and provide a current TB clearance; Must have a current/valid driver’s license COVID-19 considerations: All employees are required to pass daily health and wellness screening (including temperature checks); all individuals on The Arc of Hilo facility must wear a mask while on premises, and while working under The Arc of Hilo. Work Schedule: Sundays 5:00 AM - 2:00 PM and Mondays - Thursdays 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM
