I have friend who works for a local outlet of a nation wide chain. The place offers FULL; Medical, Vision & Dental coverage, that will cover the whole family for only $80 a month. The shifts are crazy flexible because the place is staffed 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. They are very good to there employees, they not only provide any employee who wants it a Covid Vaccination but they paid the people willing to take it $100 bonus. When the virus first hit they were able to keep everyone employed. And they got everyone discounts on Groceries and $100 in free Groceries. You get to work in a clean airconditioned safe place. And they have such a crazy diverse range of positions that any one could work there. Some people who started at the local level have eventually moved into management and from there on to the corporate level, the sky is the limit, six figures, expense account, travel opportunity. The base pay is currently being renegotiated as it is a union thing so getting in now is a good idea. But even now any time you work a shift that's early or late or weekend or holiday or longer, they have all these extra spiff amounts that get added to your pay so it can already be good. There is profit sharing and retirement benefits as well. And since it is union, once your past your probation you have a secure future as they can't just cut you loose for no reason, they have to have good reason and prove it. From all I've heard from my friend I wish I could work there myself but I own a business so I'm kind of stuck. AND HERE IS THE NUTTY PART... Apparently they can never hire enough people to be fully staffed. They desperately need to hire at least 40 people. They probably would hire double that if they could just find them. I Guess for some reason people have some preconceived notions about working there. Maybe they should go in and talk to the other people that work there some for decades and see what's true. So where does my friend work? At the brand new Local Safeway Store on Henry street in Kailua Kona. So check it out cause I'm tired of hearing my friend complain about how many hours she works due to the fact that they can't find anyone to hire.
