Carpenter/Driver - PART TIME - PAID DAILY

Jobs

Shreveport LA

Description

Valid DL is required. This ad is for a driving capable carpenter ONLY. Thank you. We are an "On-Call" company that provides an installation service, with usually a 1-2 day notice, sometimes very last minute notice. This is an "On-Call" position. Some weeks we work 5 days, some weeks we work 0 (zero) days. We service a 3-4 hr radius from Shreveport and pay for travel one-way if it's over 120 miles. About half the jobs are local. No cherry-picking. All or none. 1 - you MUST have a driver's license with a decent record - NO EXCEPTIONS 2 - you cannot have any theft or violence on your criminal background check in the past 7 years - NO EXCEPTIONS 3 - you must have a good appearance - you will be representing us at our customer's homes 4 - must be able to get to the Highland neighborhood in Shreveport where we launch from to each job site, most mornings as early as 5AM-6AM 5 - must be able to manhandle (lift/open/mix) 80 lb. bags of concrete. We mix 4-6 bags of concrete for each job and mix on-site. You won't have to do all of it all the time but must be able to manage that much should the situation require. There will always be 1-2 additional people on the crew, that work together. 6 - Rough carpentry skills are a MUST HAVE. You should be able to measure, cut, and install outside porch handrails and structural support using treated lumber on decks, without assistance. Angles, straight cuts are made using a circular saw and a speed square. If you have equipment you'd rather use, let us know. The finished work should have a decent installed appearance, but perfection is not expected. We will provide instructions and let you take it from there. NOTE: Rough carpentry should not look "rough" when done correctly. It merely refers to deck building and/or framing. All tools and equipment are provided and everyone rides to the jobsites together in the company vehicle, mostly. We are seeking someone that is not afraid to crawl under a manufactured home and is able to dig 1-2 footer holes underneath the home, connect hardware, and mix and pour relatively small amounts of concrete on-site. These tasks are usually split between 2-3 ppl, but you must be able to do all of them as necessary. This would be ideal for someone that's retired military looking for supplemental income. Or someone that works nights or weekends at another job, looking to supplement that with a second income. Paid at the end of each work day.
