Taste Virginian History as Pitmasters Alex Bazemore, Sam Clayton and Southern Grit Founder Fitz cook two whole hogs the Virginian way at Big House Farm in Chesapeake Virginia on Saturday April 17th. Portion of the proceeds benefiting the Hickory Ruritan Club Due to Covid, Southern Grit and friends will be live streaming the private cook from Big House Farm starting in the morning and featuring Food Writer Debra Freeman and other guests discussing the historical precedent and significance of Virginia Barbecue and African-American Pitmasters of Virginia. Later in the afternoon, upon the completion of the cook (between the hours of 5-7pm), those who reserve their spots will be able to pick up portions of the barbecue safely at Southern Grit's friends culinary academy, Now You're Cooking Culinary Studio in Chesapeake.
