WILLISTON PARK, NY — A 29-year-old New Hyde Park man has been arrested in the death of a 74-year-old woman struck by his car Saturday night in Williston Park, Nassau County police said. David Bernardi has been charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter and driving while ability impaired by drugs, police said Sunday afternoon. The woman was struck at about 8:25 p.m. while trying to cross the south side of Hillside Avenue by a 2012 Nissan Rogue traveling east near Broad Street, police said. The woman, whose identity is being withheld, "suffered multiple trauma injuries" and was pronounced dead at the scene by a police medic, police said. Bernardi is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday.
