CAPE MAY COUNTY, NJ — New Jersey has been expanding the number of publicly listed COVID-19 vaccination sites, and the state continues to announce new locations in the Cape May County area and elsewhere. The state's list includes some locations that accept appointments directly; others are operating through the New Jersey Vaccine Scheduling System. (See the Cape May County list of vaccine sites below.) Cape May County's vaccination site in Avalon continues to serve all county residents. County officials have encouraged residents to register for the vaccine through the state's website. CVS and Rite Aid began scheduling COVID-19 appointments at locations that will receive vaccines, but appointments fill up quickly. Ocean City's Community Services Team is helping seniors and residents without computer access register with the the state's vaccine scheduling system. They also attempt to help residents enroll in the appointment selection process for the mega-site in Atlantic City. Residents in need of this service can call 609-399-6111 or visit the Ocean City Community Center, City Hall Welcome Center or 46th Street Welcome Center. Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said the state plans to increase the number of vaccination sites beyond 300. State officials have said their goal is to vaccinate 70 percent of the adult population by the spring. Gov. Phil Murphy announced that New Jersey has created a county-by-county vaccine hub that reports the number of immunizations across the state. (see our guide to the vaccination system below). The state recently added another tool in the box to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic with a beta version of an Appointment Finder, which is live and ready to use, according to Murphy.
