Maddie- Pit Mix Needs Loving Home

Description

I am making this listing with tears in my eyes. We adopted Maddie (an american staffie mix) from a local rescue group in April of 2019. She came to us with a very sad story, and we know very little about her past. She was rescued from an apartment complex dumpster in December of 2018, and she gave birth to a litter of puppies very shortly after. Maddie has struggled extensively with fear and anxiety- household noises and objects frighten her (brooms, loud noises, vacuums- she is also scared to go into bathrooms). Until recently, she has been a relatively non-aggressive animal. The thing that is prompting me to rehome Maddie is her recent aggression towards children and strangers in the home. She also seems to be afraid of older women. As much as I love my dog, and believe me- I adore her, I refuse to put my child or her friends at risk of a bite. If you are experienced with dogs who have behavior issues, please reach out to me. Maddie needs to be in a home without children. I honestly think she would do GREAT in a home in the country (without a lot of visitors) and possibly with a single male or younger female owner. We believe Maddie is almost 3. I will NOT let her go to just anyone. She's spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, up to date on vaccines and heartguard treatment. She's a precious dog, and this is so hard for me to do. Please let me know if you have any questions.
