Did you ever see the episode of Twilight Zone, in which Billy Mumy (Danger, Will Robinson!) plays a little boy who is virtually omnipotent? He has the power to create and destroy things, simply by using his mind. Of course, he is an immature little boy, meaning he has extreme power, but none of the wisdom that is needed to wield such power. That, my friends, is Donald Trump within the 2021 GOP. In spite of having his ass handed to him by Joe Biden and 81 million American voters, he is still worshipped by oodles of registered Republicans. (Republicans without a lick of sense.) Because of that influence, lawmakers, donors, and GOP bigwigs who would otherwise dismiss Trump as the shitgibbon he is, are deferential to his residual power. Power without the wisdom to wield it. They are terrified of incurring Trump's wrath, just like the town's people were terrified of upsetting the little boy with the power to make them disappear. There are a few courageous individuals, such as Liz Cheney, but the vast majority of GOPers are embarrassingly spineless.
