SALEM, MA — A Danvers woman and Salem man were shot in the area of Park and Palmer streets in Salem Friday night.
Salem police said both suffered injuries not considered life-threatening, and that while they believe the shootings were not random they did not have any suspects as of Saturday morning.
Police said they responded to reports of a multiple shooting shortly after 9 p.m. Friday where they found a 40-year-old Salem man and 21-year-old Danvers woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Police said an initial evaluation determined their injuries were not considered life-threatening and they went to the hospital for further care.
"A perimeter was established but yielded no suspects," Salem Capt. Frederick Ryan said. "The initial investigation indicates that the shooting was not a random act. Additionally, there is no information indicating a threat to the general public exists."
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Salem Police Criminal Investigations Division at 978-745-9700 or the anonymous tip line at 978-619-5627.
