I'd like to start a band - I'm a songwriter and a guitar player. However, I wouldn't mind working with someone who'd also like to contribute to music/lyrics. Independently, my work has been compared to Bright Eyes, The Mountain Goats, and The Shins. I'm curious about moving away from my typical sound - something heavier or more psychedelic. Artists I'd like to draw influence from include Modest Mouse, Halloween Alaska, Flaming Lips (up to 2006), Wilco, Yo La Tengo, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - these are basic ideas, but I'm pretty adaptable, and open to where the sound wants to go. I'm primarily looking for a drummer, bassist, and keyboard/synth player. I play guitar, and I have a friend in the Twin Cities that I could likely convince to join us on guitar, and another on violin (if we want to incorporate strings). I like to mess with production on Ableton Live - It'd be super cool to incorporate a DAW somehow. Finally, my ultimate vision is to be able to play local shows. There are a number of bars and breweries in Northfield and the surrounding area. There are a few other places, including a cidery, that would be interested in live music.
