Description
Ares is a panther chameleon that was actually surrendered to us by a pet store after he was having some health issues. Ares has been to the vet and has a clean bill of health, including blood tests, but does have an atrophied geniohyoideus muscle. This muscle controls his tongue and is located behind his eyes, so he cannot use his tongue very well and his eyes look permanently "sunken." He does need a special shallow feeding dish but is doing well and has made a great recovery here. His adoption fee is $80.
Chameleons are considered an advanced species because any small husbandry issue can have big consequences for them. We are looking to find him a home that is experienced with reptiles, preferable with chameleons. Please research their care requirements before applying, there is a detailed care guide on our website.
PLEASE READ!
If you are interested in adopting Ares, you need to fill out an application at www.bewildnc.org/apply. Read the application carefully and answer the questions thoroughly. Above all, be honest!
