Description
Due to COVID slowing things down, I lost my construction lead volunteer because he's too backed up at work to help. I need a modification to my handicap ramp to enable EMS to get a stretcher into our house. When the ramp was first constructed, we were renting and were limited in what we could do...but now own and can make the changes needed.
I am my 82 year old mother's caregiver, and she uses a walker. I have significant spinal and joint issues and am on SSDI, thus physically unable to do the work myself. The ramp ends with a 90 degree turn into the house. We need to have what is essentially a small raised deck constructed and the ramp slide about 6 feet east to eliminate a pair of concrete steps...which will make the new addition a square instead of an L shape. The last several years, we've averaged 4 trips by ambulance to the ER each year and the gurney can not be brought up to the door/into the house as it is now.
Having previously served in public safety for more than two decades, I know how challenging it is to maneuver people through doors when they are in pain and medical need.
Seeking skilled help or contacts to skilled help to complete this project. Due to living on SSDI, we do have money for materials and if volunteers cannot be located, some form of payment can be worked out. I just know I cannot afford full labor costs from a professional construction company.
