La Mesa Music people

La Mesa CA
Description
Looking for a (few) like minded music friend(s) - I would like to play/jam/record/write regularly with said person(s)(either outside at a park or distanced or even remotely at times). Covers, originals, song writing, recording - open to playing live eventually or just for family/friends/park people, around a fire, where ever...for fun mostly, as a passion, art, outlet. I am 42, just have to put that out there, I really want to meet people in a similar life stage and experience level to myself so we can relate to music and life (I do have wife, kids, business) I just don't have time or energy for non-sense and people that I don't connect with (I don't mean to exclude or intimidate, this is scary enough putting this out there) - I play guitar and sing a bit, nothing fancy - I have a few songs, I know some covers - can send a list and see if there are any in common to start - generally I like to make covers my own anyway. I have the space and equipment for most endeavors but just as happy with an acoustic guitar and a few songs. The following list of bands is only to establish a musical connection starting point - I love most music, I am not a pro - I don't have hours a day to spend practicing and learning, but I do enjoy it and want the experience of playing and creating with others again, so do what you will with it... Influences - grew up with my Dad's records - enjoy early Van Morrison, Cat Stevens, Beatles, Stones, Prine, Neil Young etc..standard stuff from a child of parents from that generation, but I typically like the B-sides, lo-fi, oddities, raw takes of that music - I like a range of things Velvet Underground, Zombies, Tom Waits, Miles Davis, folky things too at times from all generations. - I played punk/garage rock in my 20's (was into local San Diego music like Drive Like Jehu, Three Mile Pilot, LFC) and still like that music (but tend to play acoustic now, but it influences me) Even some pop rock White Stripes, Black Keys, Vampire Weekend, Weezer, Queens of the Stone Age and of course, 90s hip hop...just to throw it out there **** I currently and most importantly/recently like everything from Singer/sonwriter to alt country, Elliot Smith to Kevin Morby, Bon Iver, Justin Townes Earl, Deer Tick, Michal Nau, Rayland Baxter, T Hardy Morris, Jeff Tweedy, Fleet Foxes, Local Natives - I really like jammy moody stuff, beach, pysch, Babe Rainbow, Donkeys, Tame Impala, Growlers, etc.. just some things off the top of my head for now - hope you get the idea. If this sounds like a good fit, generally you like or are familiar with similar music, and also are down with the low-commitment/expectation (but hopefully meaningful) musical connection experience, then please reach out, be cool and be respectful please, if this doesn't instantly sound right for you, just move on - its hard enough to find people in general, especially in these weird times and also been hard to find people as I get older and now live in La Mesa... I do like La Mesa, we are close to the Village and all, but has not necessarily been a place where I see art/music enough to meet people - just sayin', maybe that is/was changing and that would be great. Anyhow - there it is - the line has been cast, the idea put out there.
