Join us at Washington Park Arboretum on Saturday, April 24th to restore Washington Park Arboretum Join us on Saturday, April 24th to restore Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle, WA!This spring, SCA is partnering with the Arboretum Foundation, UW Botanic Gardens, and Seattle Parks and Recreation to restore the Washington Park Arboretum by removing invasive plants, weeding the collections, and mulching planting beds. We will be separating into 5 worksites throughout the Arboretum, to remove any large group aspect. Read on for our Covid Safety Guidelines!WHEN: Saturday, April 24th, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. *Note pre-registration is required for this, no walk ups. WHERE: Washington Park Arboretum, 2300 Arboretum Drive East, Seattle, WA 98112. Meet at the Graham Visitors Center Parking Lot. PARKING DETAILS: Go to the Visitor Center Parking Lot, and follow instructions to check-in. After checking in you will be immediately sent out to your work-site. Most volunteers will drive to their work-site, unless noted when you register that you are on foot (we will send you to the closest work site). *** Some organized teams will be sent directly to their work location to check-in, you will receive more instruction about this if so. WHAT: Volunteers will restore Washington Park Arboretum through removing invasive species, weeding collections, and mulching planting beds. BRING WITH YOU: Please bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated, food to help sustain you, and gloves to work in*. Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Any volunteer under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult. CAPACITY: This year our event will have a limited capacity of 65 people, and working in 5 smaller groups of 15 people in projects separated throughout the park. COVID SAFETY GUIDELINES:We are operating this event under strict Covid-19 guidelines to focus on the safety of our volunteers and staff. Facemasks are REQUIRED.Please maintain 6 ft social distancing from others.Bring work gloves.Groups sizes will be kept to 15 people, and we will reduce gathering points.Bring your own water, and snacks.Pre-registration is REQUIRED, no walk-ups.Sanitize upon arrival!
