I was just thinking about this and it really gets me mad when people do this. Ok, so I’m in many pet rehome groups on Facebook and I am looking for a puppy and everyone that has puppies looking to rehome them are asking about 300 no matter the breed (even mixed breeds). And I was thinking about this and it baffles me how people are doing this and can get away with it. Yes, I believe in rehome fees but up to a certain amount. Say you have 6 puppies and are rehoming them for 300 each.... 300x6= a total of 1,800 that they will be making off the pups. It doesn’t cost but 500 at the very most and everyone rehomes them at 6 weeks anyways when they are supposed to be 8 weeks old to legally rehome them. 1,800-500= a profit of 1,300. Tell me again how it costs almost 2k to raise a litter of puppies for 6 weeks and not even 1 set of shots?!? Like I said it baffles me that people can do that and get away with it. I myself if I had puppies to rehome this is how I would price them... A bag of diatomaceous earth is completely fine to deworm puppies and dogs and it costs about $10-20 per bag. Most vets will do shots for about $10-20 per pup. Puppy food should cost about $50 the time they start eating till they get rehoused. Labor work (optional ) $25. The math added up 20+20+50+25= $115. If you don’t want a profit then split it up per pup. 120 (rounded up) 120 split up per 6 pups = a rehome fee of $20. 20x6=120. That is just how I would do it.
