Trump was informed in late January by the WHO and the CDC that COVID-19 had the potential of becoming a pandemic. I think we all found it hard to see what was in store. Trump was reminded/warned repeatedly in the weeks that followed that this virus was far more contagious than others and could overwhelm medical system. Trump CHOSE to gamble that this virus would not be as bad as the warning indicated. He was wrong. Any leader could have made a similar mistake. This is unprecedented territory. The BIG problem that I have with Trumps responds is after the initial impact. Once we realized that this pandemic was real and was going nationwide, Trump STILL CHOSE to downplay it. Months into this disaster, Trump refused to listen to medical experts and refused to for a national strategy. 6 month in, Trump STILL failed to react to the pandemic. He was like a deer caught in the headlights. 7 months, 8 months, 9 months, 10 month in to the pandemic and Trump was STILL downplaying it and not supporting mask wearing. After 10 months Trump had zero plan to distribute the vaccine. He left the incoming president with no information, no strategy, no game plan. Trump wants some credit for funding the research to speed up the vaccine, ok, lets give him that. Thank you. But other than that, Trump shit the bed. This is not a democrat vs Republican thing although some of you insist on making it political. This is a Trump failed to lead this nation thing. Trump panicked at a time of crisis. Trump bought in to conspiracies rather than facts. Trump tried to play the pandemic to his political gain and it backfired. If Trump had responded to this pandemic the same way that Biden has, there is no doubt he would still be president. But he failed. The nation knows he failed and now he is gone. Any person can lead during good times. True leaders show up during a crisis. Trump ran from the crisis and actually lied to America about the risks. That is literally a crime against America. Plain and simple.
