Family Force and The Brookfield Institute to offer volunteer training in peer support through a new program called HomeFront Strong
Family Force is teaming up with the Brookfield Institute to offer volunteer training in peer support through a new program called HomeFront Strong. Under HomeFront Strong, volunteers are matched with service members, veterans, and family members to provide support and encouragement through private, weekly, check-ins geared toward helping to identify strengths, access resources, and improve resiliency.
Volunteers are veterans, spouses, parents, and other military-connected community members who understand the unique challenges and rewards associated with military service.
When matched with a service member, veteran, or family member, volunteers have access to the expertise and support of credentialed staff at the Brookfield Institute and attend a monthly meeting with the program director to discuss progress made and challenges faced.
4 part training sessions include:
- An introduction to the Brookfield Institute and HomeFront Strong with a special focus on the relationship with Family Force
- Establishing a peer support relationship through setting appropriate boundaries, employing empathy and active listening skills
- Military culture and cultural humility
- Common military lifestyle challenges and mental health concerns
- Skills for resilience and creating action plans with SMART goals
Please sign up for all four classes!
