A 2-minute test is planned around the Conowingo Pond in the Susquehanna River Thursday morning, according to emergency officials.
Exelon will be testing its Muddy Run Cottage Warning System at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14.
A brief tone will be followed by "This is a test. This is a test."
During the two-minute test, people to not need to take any action.
The test occurs on the second Thursday of January, April, July and October at 10 a.m., according to the Harford County Department of Emergency Services.
"In the event of a real emergency, a tone will sound, followed by the words, 'This is an emergency, please move to higher ground. This is an emergency, please move to higher ground,'" emergency officials said.
Muddy Run Pumped Storage Facility generates energy by using water in the upper reservoir at Muddy Run to fuel turbines that flow into the Conowingo Pond, which is a 14-mile stretch of the Susquehanna River in Maryland.
