AUSTIN, TX — Austin Pets Alive! is seeking pet lovers to help foster neonatal kittens in need this season, officials said. The popular no-kill animal shelter said it is looking for individuals who would like to foster neonatal kittens as more found young felines are brought to the shelter this spring. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the shelter's Neonatal Kitten Nursery, which operates each year from March through October with staff and volunteers monitoring the care and feeding of kittens every two hours, has transitioned the program to almost 100 percent into foster homes. Each neonatal kitten or nursing mom brought to the shelter is seen for an initial medical screening before they are taken to their temporary home. Help us save the tiniest of lives! "There is a greater need than ever to have foster homes at the ready to take in these cats directly so they don't have to stay at the APA! Nursery," officials said. "Having more fosters lined up in advance means more space at the nursery, which means APA! can provide this crucial lifeline for more mama cats and kittens in need." Anyone interested in fostering any neonatal kittens this season, can apply HERE or visit the Austin Pets Alive! website.
