He is a baseball legend who showed the world how to live, love, and play ball. This picture book biography dovetails with the 100th anniversary of the Negro National Leagues and is the debut in a series of children’s sports biographies. MLB approved. A portion of all sales will be given to Buck’s nonprofit charity, First Base Enterprises and to the NLBM to continue his generous gifts for children. About the Author: Kristy Nerstheimer is an educator in Kansas by day and a writer by night. And always an advocate for our youth. ​After graduating from the University of Kansas, she began her teaching career over 25 years ago. She has taught many different elementary grade levels, and one of her favorite things to do is get kids excited about reading! Whether it is using puppets with younger kids or creating book reviews with older students, engaging students with a great story is magical. Her love for writing came from her love of reading.
