DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Coronavirus vaccine availability is increasing in Delaware County thanks to efforts by county, state, and federal leaders. So where does the county stand now in terms of inoculating its residents? Below are the latest vaccination updates in Delaware County: How Many Have Gotten The Vaccine? Since vaccination distribution began in late December, 85,371 people have been partially and 92,949 people have been fully vaccinated in Delaware County as of Friday. Delaware County has a population of roughly 566,747 according to census data. Who Gets Vaccinated And When? The county Wednesday opened up vaccine appointment scheduling to everyone eligible in Phases 1A and 1B. Preregistration is no longer required. Appointments can be scheduled online here. Those seeking appointments can choose their appointment date, time, location, and vaccine type when appointments are available. The county said it will add new appointments as quickly as vaccines are delivered to the county by the state. Thousands of new appointments have been added in the past 10 days and tens of thousands will be added each week. Residents seeking the vaccine are urged to be patient. While the county is getting more vaccines, the demand still exceeds the supply. Chester County's phased distribution of the vaccine is based on CDC research recommendations. In Delaware County, 43,317 people have had the coronavirus as of Friday. Additionally, 1,356 county residents have died of the coronavirus to date, and 825 of those who died were in long-term care, according to the latest data. Where Can I Get Vaccinated? Delaware County is running six vaccination sites now that officials announced the Delaware County Community College Marple Campus will be used as a large-scale vaccination site.
