SAN RAFAEL, CA — A man arrested early Tuesday morning in connection with a stabbing attack kicked a responding officer to the ground before being taken into custody, San Rafael police said.
At around 3:30 a.m., Christian Daniel Giron, 28 of San Rafael, stabbed a neighbor who attempted to referee a dispute between Giron and another neighbor at a Fourth Street apartment building, Sgt. Raul Aguilar said.
The victim was hospitalized with a cut on his hand, Aguilar said.
The officer was not seriously hurt and didn't receive medical treatment, Aguilar said.
Giron was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a peace officer among other charges and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail according to Marin County's inmate locator website.
Giron was known to police, Aguilar said, noting multiple arrests going back to 2016.
"He was not a stranger to personal work in the Police Department," Aguilar said.
