I almost became a victim to a scam!Luckily I remembered reading someone else’s post on here about potential scammers!
I Was on here looking for a pup to add to our family and one person messaged me saying they have a lot of different breeds of dogs because their from a “rescue shelter” I was looking for a maltipoo they happened to have a few, when I asked for pictures or videos of the pup parents they didn’t have any because their rescued. Then when I asked when will the pup be ready he/she messaged saying when they are 5-6 weeks they will be ready. BIG RED FLAG! you are never supposed to rehome before 8-12 weeks! They asked for a deposit to secure my place for the pup because they are a “rare breed”, ((uhm okay I thought you are trying to give them good homes not make a bidding war)) I proceeded to ask what the company of the rescue is they said “ a Diamond in the a ruff” attached no website to verify their authenticity. So I googled the name and only one popped up but the name was alittle different, number didn’t match up either, they texted me super late at night even tho I told them I would just text them in the morning. Told them they can f*#k off! From the start I already knew it was a scam! If it seems off trust your gut!
Never ever give anyone a deposit or money upfront for a pet you have NOT physically seen. Should never adopt a pup before 8 weeks they are too fragile without mums milk and it’s illegal! Always ask for pictures or videos of the pups parents or have them write the date and hold it up next to the pet you are wanting. Don’t fall victim to scammers!
