Maintains grounds and turf of golf course in playing condition as directed by Grounds Superintendent by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Operates mowers and string trimmers in trimming greens, aprons, tees, fence lines, banks and hillsides; edges cart paths; rakes and maintains sand bunkers; sets tee markers and cups on greens daily; maintains ball washers; replaces tee towels and flags when needed; and removes debris and cleans flower beds. Assists in construction of new greens, tees and fairways; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; and seeds tees, greens and fairways. Installs forms and lays walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes; excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools; repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems. Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems to Supervisor immediately; returns all equipment to the designated location; and cleans the maintenance areas. Operates mowers, dump trucks and/or other light equipment as needed. Understands the proper method in which to operate an assigned piece of equipment in a safe and responsible manner and in accordance with the standards of safety as set forth in the company’s safety policy manual.
