4 ODOT Construction Projects Set To Impact Westlake Drivers

WESTLAKE, OH — The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) announced its slate of 2021 construction projects this week, with several set to impact Westlake drivers. After an uncertain year of projects, due to COVID-19, ODOT is launching more than 270 projects statewide, with work planned in 17 counties across Northeast Ohio. Many of the plans include making highways and other routes safer. "Sadly, traffic deaths continued to climb last year, even with fewer vehicles on our roads," said ODOT Director Jack Marchbanks. "We must continue to prioritize projects that make our roads safer for everyone who uses them." In Northeast Ohio, there will be 104 roadway maintenance projects and 60 bridge-related projects. Crews will doing major and minor projects, including repairs and complete replacements, ODOT said. Here are the planned projects with a direct impact in or near Westlake: Replace the driving surface of the I-90 bridge over Tuttle Creek in the city of Westlake.Project starts summer 2021 and should be finished in May 2022Cost: $3,200,000Slope repairs on I-90, I-480, and SR 10 (Lorain Rd.) bridgesover the Rocky River in the cities of Rocky River, Lakewood, Fairview Park, and Cleveland.Project started March 2021 and should finish September 2021Cost: $3,205,230Bridge repair on I-90 over the Rocky River in the cities ofRocky River and Lakewood.Project will start this spring and should be finished by September 2021.Cost: $675,880Bridge painting on I-480 over the Rocky River and SR 10(Lorain Ave.) over the Rocky River.
