ABOUT US: California Farm and Garden specializes in the design, installation, and maintenance of vegetable and herb gardens and farms, fruit tree orchards, and accompanying pollinator and California native gardens. We work with homeowners, small businesses and restaurants, and large corporations in San Diego and Orange Counties to create beautiful, entirely organic, productive edible spaces and amenities. Based out of San Diego for the last 13 years, our growing company is seeking a full-time Landscape Foreman to manage our garden and farm installations. As a for-profit organization that is experiencing positive growth throughout Southern California, we strive for efficiency and integrity in our services. Our work is fast-paced, results oriented, and a ton of fun! POSITION OVERVIEW: We’re looking to add an Landscape Foreman to the team to facilitate efficiency, organization, and implement our farming and cultural values. It is a truly unique position for a unique company. On a day-to-day basis, the Landscape Foreman could participate in a number of activities. These include but are not limited to: supervising and training assistants and technicians; attending planning meetings with management; sourcing and ordering materials and equipment; supervising and planning installations while ensuring costs and timelines are met; overseeing administrative files; client communication; etc. It’s also important to note this is a hands-on, working position - there will be multiple days per week where you’re on a project site assisting the rest of the team with the installation, ensuring our clients are happy, and making sure the end results look spectacular and are functional. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have 3+ years of relevant experience managing and installing agricultural or landscaping projects and teams. - Includes coordinating and managing multiple projects and employees at once - Includes working within time limits and budgets Must have experience with or knowledge of: - Basic job-site safety practices - Seeding and transplanting - Soil and plant health - Installing / fixing / setting irrigation systems (controllers, valves, PVC, etc.) - Sourcing and purchasing materials and equipment - Keeping inventory Beneficial if you have experience with or knowledge of: - Farming and gardening practices: - Organic soil and garden practices - Harvesting - Pest and disease treatments (organic products and methods) - Fertilizers and amendments (organic products and methods) - Fruit tree care - Using / driving equipment such as: - Trenchers - Compactors - Chippers - Skid steer loaders - General woodworking practices (building raised beds, trellises, etc.) Must be self-motivated and have excellent, very strong organizational skills / high attention to detail. Must have exemplary professional written and oral communication skills. Should have some experience working in spreadsheets and in Google Drive (email, calendar, docs, sheets). Other qualifications: - Comfortable working outside all day on a daily basis - Comfortable waking up early - Comfortable with physical labor - Can lift up to 50lbs - Valid driver’s license and must have a vehicle COMPENSATION: This is a full time position Monday - Friday. Pay is based on experience and competitive.
