BATON ROUGE, LA — Former Mountain Brook basketball standout Trendon Watford is looking to make local history as the first Mountain Brook High School alum to play in the National Basketball Association.
Watford, a two-year starter at LSU, declared for the 2021 NBA Draft Thursday and said he will hire an agent, which ends his college eligibility. Watford declared for the draft after the 2019-20 season but did not hire an agent, and opted to stay another year at LSU.
Watford was a first-team All-SEC selection this past season and made the conference's All-Freshman team the year before. Watford also made this season's SEC All-Tournament team after averaging 21 points in LSU's three games in Nashville.
