JOB SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the Monitor is responsible to provide guidance, supervision, meal delivery and a safe environment. The Monitor is also responsible to oversee the activities of Participants and be a source of guidance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, but are not limited to following: • Monitors the Program Floor and Participants • Maintain a safe environment at all times, complying with WCA standards and safety regulations. • Maintain high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality of employees, participants, sensitive and critical information with professionalism and discretion. • Conduct hourly perimeter check of the assigned floor/s; documenting observations, information and occurrences. • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, participants, maintaining appropriate boundaries. • Checks identification of persons entering the program floor • Reports to Safety and Information any incident in which hotel rules are not being followed. • Documents the participants’ activities and behaviors in the “case track” computer file. • Documents non-compliance of resident curfew guidelines. • Adhere to and enforce all house rules. • Works in conjunction with the hotel staff and Safety & Information staff on all matters pertaining to participants’ health and safety. • Satisfactory proficiency in performing all duties connected to the security monitoring system. • Immediately contact the Program Manager/appropriate staff, Security and/or law enforcement in the event of crisis and stabilize crisis situations until Security and/or emergency personnel responds. • Provides Guidance to Program Participants • Communicates to resident’s information about the program rules and services. • Listen to participants’ issues and problems and encourage the utilization of program services. • Respond to participants’ request(s), rendering assistance as possible; respond to and resolve conflicts and crisis situations. • Assist in Program Implementation • Participate in program activities. • Provides clerical assistance for program. • Initiate and implement ideas for program improvement. • Reports for work as scheduled. • Works effectively with co-workers, customers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; listening to and objectively considering the ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress, timetables and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical business solutions; addressing others by name, title or other respectful identifier, and respecting the diversity of our work force in actions, words and deeds. • Maintain standardized operating procedures, safety of residents, program integrity, and a supportive and caring environment. • And other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: 1. Standing and sitting for long periods of time along with being able to move and walk to various locations, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing, bending, twisting, and lifting (20-25lbs). 2. Seeing in general, close vision, general hearing and listening, clear complete speech. Touching, dexterity (hand & finger). 3. Complex reading skills, complex writing skills, clerical abilities, memorization skills analyzing, perception and comprehension, math skills, judgment and decision-making capability. 4. Ability to work alone, work with others, work around others, have verbal contact with others, face-to-face contact, work inside, work outside, work in confined areas, work with noise, work with and around fumes/odors. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Experience working in a human service organization. • CPR and first aid training. • Qualified and trained to recognize the symptoms and signs of substance abuse. • Able to communicate well by telephone and through written correspondence. • Can work independently as well as with program team. EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: • A.A. degree preferred or high school diploma or its equivalent with one-year experience in an equivalent position.
