Read this all the way through HVAC installation is a construction project. It takes construction skills, not HVAC skills. You cannot learn installation in HVAC school. I can teach you in 2 - 3 weeks everything you need to know to do 95% of all install work "IF" you have 5 to 10 years of construction experience. You will start as a installer helper and advance to the installer in a few weeks. Having gone to HVAC school will not improve your chances of getting hired as an installer - installer helper. You must have at least 10 years of work experience, no exception. 5 of those need to be in roofing, electrical, plumbing, home services, landscaping, framing, carpenter, drywall, glazing. (again no exceptions) Driving record: We need 3 years of clean driving record. 2 years and 11 months wont work. Criminal Record: Nothing recent. Background checks will be performed. Drug tests: performed on hiring. Must be able to work by yourself without management or with 1 to 2 other installers. Must be healthy enough and fit enough to do the job. You will be up and down the ladders all day carrying tools and parts. You will spend 3 to 8 hours a day in the attic where it is 130 degrees We work a lot more in the summer than at any other time of the year. A LOT MORE!
