MAINTENANCE MECHANIC Sakuma Bros. is part of the family-owned farming and processing operation spanning four generations with over 85 years of experience in the small fruit industry. Home based in Burlington, WA, the company is located in the premier berry growing area of the Pacific Northwest. The berry processing operations engages in packing, marketing, sales, and distribution of fresh and frozen berries grown by the Sakuma family as well as many area growers, for both the domestic and international markets. We are seeking a full time Maintenance Mechanic to join our team! This position will begin as a full-time temporary technician through September but may become a regular full-time position for the right person! This position consists of repairing and maintaining all production and facility equipment, new equipment installations, and maintaining established preventative maintenance programs. The qualified candidate will be experienced in machine repair, must be proficient in reading mechanical/electrical prints, pneumatic schematics, and hydraulic schematics, proficient in pipe fitting skills of air, water, hydraulics, and must have good attendance record. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Repair and maintain high speed production equipment. • Practice safe work habits. Follows proper lock out tag out procedures as required. Completes all OSHA required training as required and correct any unsafe conditions, as necessary. • Responds to calls from line supervisors or operators to repair equipment as needed. • Performs package changeovers on equipment as required. • Schedule preventative maintenance on equipment as required. • Installing/rebuilding equipment. • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic devices and hydraulic systems. • Troubleshoot mechanical or electrical problems in a timely manner. • Independently performs all assignments after being given general instructions as to the results expected. • Takes the lead and initiates resolution of technical, unusual or complex problems or issues. • Ability to interact with the public and other employees in a positive manner and promote a cooperative working environment. • Coordinates several projects at the same time while prioritizing competing demands on time frames. • Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information. • General understanding of electric and electrical controls. • Ability to work extended hours and weekends when necessary; the flexibility to work days, evenings and/or weekends is preferred. • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS: • A high school diploma or GED And a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in equipment maintenance and repair, preferably in a production environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position may be substituted. • Skill and experience in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical problems. • Good verbal and written communication skills are required to work with Corporate Management, outside compliance agencies, vendors, resource agencies, and any other individuals or organizations that affect the operations of the plant. • Ability to conduct major repairs on machinery with minimal supervision or training. • Ability to maintain and follow the inventory management program. • Ability to work independently using effective time management and organizational skills. • Ability to make decisions under intense pressure, specifically during periods of peak operations. • Must handle in a constructive manner, the multiple business, organizational, and interpersonal changes, or stresses that may exist in the employee’s work, work processes, dealing with other personnel, and supervision (provided or received).
