Join Casey Trees staff for an easy paced tree identification walk on Memorial Hill located in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Make use of the Casey Trees species guide to learn key characteristics of tree species to tell them apart. We will also discuss the benefits that these trees provide to this special place and our urban forest.
What to expect: An easy walk through young trees, stopping to view and discuss different tree characters for species identification. We will have species guides to use. No experience necessary.
Come Prepared: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes for an easy 1.5 hour walk around the grounds. Feel free to bring a small notebook.
Getting There- The tree walk is accessible by bus, metro, street parking and bike.
Public Transit: The closest metro/bus stations are NoMa-Galludet U, transfer to bus 90/92 or D4/D8, or Stadium/ Armory metro, transfer to bus B2.
Parking: There is parking on the grounds of the site. Either park in main lot off of Bladensburg Road or park along Olivet Ave inside the cemetery near meeting point (See Map).
Bikes: Bikes can be locked to nearby bike racks.
Where to Meet: Look for the Casey Trees staff in the orange vest near #11 on the map (Memorial Hill).
