Join Casey Trees staff for an easy-paced tree identification walk at Oxon Run Park. Are you looking for some nature time? Interested in learning more about the trees of DC? Join Casey Trees staff for an easy-paced tree identification walk around Oxon Run Park. Make use of the Casey Trees species guide to learn key characteristics of tree species to tell them apart. We will also discuss the benefits that these trees provide to the park and our urban forest. What to expect: An easy walk through the park, stopping to view and discuss different tree characters for species identification. We will have species guides to use. No experience necessary. Come Prepared: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes for an easy 1.5 hour walk around the grounds. Feel free to bring a small notebook. Meals: None provided. Please bring your own water. Getting There: The park is accessible by bus, metro, street parking and bike. Public Transit: The closest metro station is Congress Heights. The bus is W2. Parking: There is street parking around the park. Bikes: Bikes can be locked to nearby signs. There are Capital Bikeshare stations nearby. Check their site if needed. Where to Meet: Look for the Casey Trees staff in the orange vest in the park at the intersection of 13th St. and Mississippi Ave. SE. (by amphitheater)
