WAYLAND, MA — The Wayland 2021 town election is coming up in just about a month on May 11, and will feature two contested races plus an open Board of Selectmen race. Due to the pandemic, Wayland voters will have the option of casting absentee ballots by mail. But the town will also offer two in-person voting sites on Election Day. The last day to register to vote in Wayland is April 21. If you're not sure if you're registered to vote, you can check your voting status on the Secretary of State's website. Here's everything you need to know about the candidates running in 2021, and how to vote. In-person voting Polls will be open in Wayland from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day at these polling places: Precincts 1 and 4 — Town Hall, 41 Cochituate RoadPrecincts 2 and 3 — Wayland Middle School, 201 Main St. Don't know where you should vote? Check the Secretary of State's website. Absentee voting The deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot is May 5. If you received one already, you can mail it to the Town Clerk. It must be received by 8 p.m. on May 11, or it won't count. Address ballots to the Town Clerk, 41 Cochituate Road. However, the best option is to drop off ballots either in the vestibule at Town Hall, or the drop box outside the police and fire buildings, 38 Cochituate Road. You can also deliver your ballot to the Town Clerk's office, but you must make an appointment. Who's running In 2021, two Board of Selectmen members — Lea Anderson and Mary Antes — are not seeking reelection. Trust Fund Commission Chair Adam Gutbezahl and Finance Committee member Carol Martin have stepped up to run for the two open seats. On the School Committee side, incumbents Ellen Grieco and Kathleen Steinberg are running to keep their seats. Former Sudbury teacher Jessica Polizzotti has stepped up as a challenger. There is also a four-way race for the Board of Public Works. Jonathan Mishara is not running for reelection in 2021, but member Clifford Lewis is.
