Description
MIDDLESEX COUNTY, MA — Massachusetts State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in Middlesex County this weekend.
The checkpoint was announced Monday. It will take place between Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10 at various hours in an unidentified location.
State police said the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary.
"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public's awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," police said in a statement.
Any inconveniences to drivers will be minimized with advance notice to "reduce fear and anxiety," police said.
