More Jay Road Resurfacing Set To Begin In Boulder County

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — Another Jay Road resurfacing project is scheduled to begin Monday in Boulder County, officials said. Travel delays can be expected between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, between US 36 and CO 119, the county said. The project is anticipated to last through June, weather permitting. "During working hours, travelers can expect delays in both directions as the road will be reduced to one lane, often in multiple locations," the county said in a news release. "During paving operations, delays at intersections along Jay Road will be longer, up-to 30 minutes, as the asphalt must be allowed to cool before bikes and vehicles can safely ride or drive on the surface. "After the road is milled, the surface will be in a less than ideal condition, so please obey posted speed limits and drive safely. Cyclists and pedestrians may be asked to merge with motor vehicle traffic when there isn't room to accommodate a designated pathway." Like what you're reading? In addition to the paving, the island at 30th Street on Jay Road will be moved to better align with the road, county officials said. Other planned improvements include the replacement of bus stops and reworking drainage to prevent road pooling. Transit stops along Jay Road will be moved temporarily to accommodate the construction, officials said.
