The 5th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival is a family friendly event that allmare welcome to. On Saturday, June 19th, 2021 from 1pm to 8pm, The South Carolina Juneteenth Freedom Fest will host its 5th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival in Columbia, SC at Dutch Square Mall, 421 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC. This year will be a three-day event to include a Meet and Greet, Juneteenth Gala and the Festival. Juneteenth or June 19th is the oldest known celebration commemorating the 1865 emancipation of the last enslaved people in the United States. Juneteenth commemorates and emphasizes education, freedom, and the overall achievement of African Americans. It is a time for reflection and rejoicing. It is a time for community assessment, self-improvement, and planning for the future. Across our country, the contributions of African Americans continue to enrich every facet of American life. This Juneteenth, we pay tribute to the enduring and persevering spirits of African Americans. Our Celebration is a free community event and will include activities and resources, such as: Historical Awareness and Enactments Health Information to include Covid testing, Sickle Cell and more Local Non-Profit Organizations Live Musical Performances Award Ceremony honoring key figures in the SC African American Community Retail Vendors Local Food Vendors Civic Engagement and Voter Registration Radio Stations: Kiss and The Big DM
