CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Cleveland Heights police are reviewing and updating some of their policies, including what they look for when hiring new officers and when they engage in car chases. The public has been invited to share their thoughts on the policies during a virtual community meeting on April 13. All comments must be submitted by Friday, to ensure inclusion in the meeting. A draft version of the department's proposed hiring policy can be viewed online. A draft version of the department's vehicle pursuit policy can be viewed online. Police are working with Cleveland State University's Division of Equity and Inclusion to update the policies. The organizations have planned two community meetings, the first on April 13, the second on April 27. The first meeting will start at 7 p.m. and will conclude by 8:30 p.m. To register for that event, or to submit comments, visit the city's website.
