Marietta, Cobb Schools Staff Get $1K Bonuses

COBB COUNTY, GA — Marietta City Schools and Cobb County School District employees are all getting $1,000 bonuses, with Marietta school employees getting them as early as Friday. Gov. Brian Kemp and state Superintendent Richard Woods sent a recommendation to the state Board of Education, saying to use federal COVID-19 relief money to provide the $1,000 bonuses to all Georgia teachers. Both Cobb and Marietta school systems gave the bonuses to all employees. Marietta City Schools employees will get their bonus checks Friday, while Cobb Schools is sending out the bonuses with its April payroll. For CCSD staff, all full-time employees will get $1,000, while part-time employees will get $490. MCS full-time and part-time employees get $1,000. "It is more than appropriate and necessary to extend the supplement to all Cobb Team members on our One Team," Cobb Schools Superintendent Chris Ragsdale said. "Everyone has truly gone above and beyond during the pandemic to ensure our students achieve our One Goal." CCSD received about $14.3 million from the state for the bonuses, while MCS got about $1.2 million. According to the Marietta Daily Journal, MCS spent $91,160 to pay the expanded bonuses.
