HOOVER, AL — Spring is a great time to clean the house, hence the traditional term of "spring cleaning," and the City of Hoover is giving residents the chance to safely dispose of any hazardous household items they may have in their homes.
Household Hazardous Waste Day in Hoover is set for April 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hoover Public Safety building, 2020 Valleydale Road.
Materials accepted include:
Aerosol Spray Cans (with content)Automotive Fluids (motor oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, gas and/or mixed gas)Batteries (automotive & alkaline)Caulk/glueDrain Cleaners/OpenersFluorescent Tubes/Light BulbsHousehold Cleaners (Bleach, Oven Cleaners, Metal Cleaners, Polishes, Toilet Cleansers)Oil & Latex Paint, Aerosol Paint, Paint Thinners/Paint Strippers/Paint RemoversPesticides, Herbicides, FertilizersPolish (auto & furniture)Wood PreservativeWall Paper RemoverGrease and Rust SolventsStains/VarnishStandard Vehicle Tires (No commercial or heavy equipment tires will be accepted)PreservativesLighter FluidKeroseneMoth BallsInsect RepellentWaste Cooking Oil Items not accepted include:
