Harvey L. Parks, Inc. Land Surveying, located in Chester, VA, is currently seeking a Full Time Crew Chief or Instrument Operator. This position will be leading a crew or assisting with construction staking, ALTA, boundary, topographic, and mortgage surveys. Possibility of advancement to Party Chief (for Instrument Operator). Responsibilities: • Operate survey instruments such as total stations, data collectors, GPS, and other standard survey equipment to collect field data. • Interpret construction plans, perform necessary calculations in the field, and perform construction layout. • Prepare legible written field notes. • Ability to work in the outside elements of the field up to 100% of the time. • Ability to remain standing for long periods of time during the day and walk long distances. • Set up, minor maintenance, and operation of all field survey equipment, vehicles, and supplies. • Must have valid Driver’s License Ability to carry 50lbs of equipment short distances. • Must be able to pass background checks and, or any tests that may be required, to access Federal Sites. • Perform other duties as assigned. Education/Professional Certifications and Experience: • Associates, High school diploma or GED. • Minimum of 3-4 years in surveying field (preferred). • Prior Instrument Operator experience (preferred).
