How many times have you heard THAT line ??
If the government really wanted to 'get guns off the streets' as they say, why don't they actually go after the guns that are actually on the street?
Not to "Profile" or anything, but I'll bet if you go down to some low-rent neighborhood in a big city, and see 5 or 6 young men standing around on a street corner, I'll bet you'll fine a gun in there somewhere. And these types of scenarios are where 90% of all the gun violence comes from.
"Mass-Shootings" don't claim newarly as many lives as all the 'up close and personal' shootings that happen all the time in the big cities.
If you want to stop gun violence, go after Pistols !! Pistols are used to kill ten times more often as all rifles combined.
So-called "assault rifles" are used to kill less than 1%. Why go after them, when there are so many pistols in the hoods?
Because it's easy. Most assault rifles are REGISTERED, so the government knows who owns them and where to find them.
Getting pistols off the streets would be more time consuming and much more dangerous, than taking rifles away from law-abiding citizens.
It's much easier to knock on someone's door and take their gun, than troll the hood and deal with the real criminals. Get it?
New York had 'stop and frisk', and it actually worked as far as I know, but it was called 'racist', of course, and shut down.
