Description
A man in his eighties passed away recently, but not before getting a promise from his brother that his old dog, Moon, would live out his days with his family and not go to the pound. The brother betrayed the both of them and Moon was dumped in the Ukiah shelter. He barked and cried for several days. I took him to my home in Mendocino County for a few hours break today, a chance for fresh air a hot meal and a much needed bath. There are several other dogs here and after the usual sniff or two he ignores them.
He's a little disoriented, but is settling down nicely. He's not needy or otherwise a pain, he's a little rickety but for 11 years in great health.
What he really wants, and needs, and deserves, is a quiet home maybe with a deck and a garden where he can spend whatever time he has left in security and with easy company. Animal rescue is brimming with stories such as his, with a broken trust led into a kennel on a leash.
I'm posting this because there is no doubt that someone in the Bay Area will want him, he's a likable character and low maintenance. He's fixed and has shots including rabies.
Please call
and ask for either Amy or Lisa. Ukiah is a great facility and will NOT euthanize for space, unlike Lake County shelter in Lakeport.
Thank you for your consideration and sharing this if you can.
