READING, MA — The town will offer COVID-19 vaccinations to home-bound residents by request over the next two weeks.
The Health Department has been given about 70 doses designated for home-bound residents. People are considered home-bound if:
1. The person cannot leave home under normal, everyday circumstances and/or
2. When leaving home, requires significant and taxing effort and assistance from another person, particularly when getting in and out of a motor vehicle.
People who are able to leave the home for religious services, medical appointments or taking a brief walk/car ride may still qualify as home-bound.
The town is working to identify eligible individuals. If you or a loved one meets the above description, call 781-942-6653 and speak to a member of town staff or leave a message to arrange for a phone screening. Staff members will be answering that line Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
