MILFORD, MA — Preliminary results in the 2021 Milford town election are in, showing who's ahead in the five contested races this spring.
In the School Committee race — the most crowded with five candidates up for three seats — incumbents Meghan Hornberger and Christopher Wilson and challenger Matthew Zacchilli were in the lead. In the open Town Moderator race, Michelangelo Bon Tempo was beating Gerald Moody Sr.
The town also now officially has a new Select Board member, with former health officer Paul Mazzuchelli taking William Kingkade's seat. Mazzuchelli did not face an opponent in 2021.
According to the Town Clerk, 2,089 Milford voters cast a ballot in Tuesday's election, which is about 12 percent turnout. That's far less than the 2020 election, when 34 percent of voters cast a ballot.
