WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford Police Chief William Wright is retiring after 25 years with the department, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.
The Record-Journal reports Wright, who was promoted to chief in 2015, will still have a presence around town as he will become the director of operations at Choate Rosemary Hall. His retirement is effective July 1.
Wright told the Record-Journal he wasn't looking to retire but was intrigued by the position at Choate.
In addition to needing to hire a new police chief, Wallingford is also looking for a fire chief to replace current Chief Richard Heidgerd who is retiring Friday after more than 30 years with the department.
